Projects & Production Board

Manage video projects on the Projects kanban—from ideas through script, thumbnail, video, and upload—with Workflow Settings and Agent Mode shortcuts.

The Projects page is your channel's production command center: a kanban board that tracks every video from early ideas through published upload. Each card on the board is a video project (the same script records you open in Canvas or Agent Mode—"Projects" is the user-facing name for that pipeline).

Where to find it

Open any channel and click Projects in the channel navigation bar (alongside Ideas and Thumbnails). There is no separate top-level "Scripts" item in the main app menu—production work lives under each channel's Projects tab.

What the board shows

Team channels get the full Projects board—a unified kanban that merges two kinds of cards:

  1. Idea cards — Video ideas that have not become a script yet. They live in the first three (idea) columns.
  2. Project cards — Active video projects (scripts) moving through production stages.

Solo channels without a team may see a simpler scripts list instead; the full board, Workflow Settings, and Tasks are team-channel features.

Idea columns

Column Meaning
New Ideas you are evaluating
Considering Ideas you are actively interested in (use the star on a card to toggle)
Needs Script Ideas you intend to turn into a script soon

Drag idea cards between these columns to update their status. You can also add a new idea card with + Add card at the bottom of any column.

Production columns

After an idea becomes a project, it moves through production stages:

Column Typical work
Script Outlining and writing (Canvas, Script Builder, or Agent Mode)
Recording On-camera or voice recording (only when Recording stage is enabled in Workflow Settings → Flags)
Thumbnail Thumbnail concepts and finals
Video Gen Automated or manual video production
Video Ready Final video asset ready for YouTube
Upload Scheduling, metadata, checklist, and publish

Drag project cards left or right to change stage. Stats at the top of the page summarize how many projects sit in each production column.

Turning an idea into a script (Agent Mode shortcut)

One of the fastest paths from idea to draft is dragging an idea card into any production column (most often Script).

  1. Drag the idea card from New, Considering, or Needs Script into Script (or another production column).
  2. A confirmation modal appears: Start writing this script?
  3. Review Model, Research (Auto / On / Off), and inherited Length, Template, and Credits (Agent Mode uses a flat per-run fee—see Agent Mode).
  4. Click Start writing.

Subscribr creates the project, opens its card slideout, and kicks off Agent Mode with the options you chose. This is the same automated pipeline documented in Agent Mode—you do not have to open Canvas first.

Prefer the hands-on Canvas flow instead? From the Ideas page, use Write Script on an idea—that starts a chat thread and Canvas with the idea context loaded. The Projects board drag shortcut is optimized for Agent Mode.

Moving scripts back to ideas

Dragging a project card into an idea column asks you to confirm. Production data may be lost when demoting a script back to an idea-only card. Use this when you want to reset something to the ideation stage.

Opening and working on a card

Click any idea or project card to open the detail panel on the right. The panel slides in from the right and shows different content depending on whether the card has been promoted to a script yet.

Card header

Every card opens with an editable title at the top and a card toolbar row just below it. The toolbar exposes the most-used controls at a glance:

  • Status — Change the idea status (New / Considering / Needs Script) or production stage (Script / Recording / Thumbnail / Upload, etc.)
  • Assignee — Assign to a team member (feeds Tasks)
  • Due date — Set or clear a deadline (overdue cards are flagged in red)
  • Tags — Apply workflow or manual tags; tags are configured in Workflow Settings → Tags
  • Thumbnail approval badge — Appears when a thumbnail is in review (Pending / Approved / Changes requested)

Tabs

Cards in card mode (Projects board) show tabs across the top of the content area:

Tab Contents
Idea Title, description, angle, title variations, script presets (length, template, model), and notes. Idea-only cards show a Promote to Script button here.
Thumbnail Full AI thumbnail generation and selection studio for this project
Script Word count summary, Open script (or Watch progress while Agent Mode runs), and a preview of the script content
Upload YouTube upload checklist, scheduling, and publish fields

The Idea and Thumbnail tabs are present for both idea cards and project cards. The Script and Upload tabs appear only after the idea has been promoted to a script.

Promote without dragging

On the Idea tab, scroll to the bottom to find Promote to Script — this creates the script directly without starting Agent Mode. Agent Mode only starts automatically when you drag-and-drop onto a production column. You can also start Agent Mode from the Script tab after promotion via the Canvas.

Deep links

Share or bookmark a specific card by appending ?card=script:123 or ?card=idea:456 to the Projects URL. The card detail panel opens automatically when someone loads that link. Older board or pipeline URLs redirect to Projects automatically.

Kanban vs table view

Use the view toggle on the Projects page to switch between:

  • Kanban — Drag-and-drop columns (default for team channels)
  • Table — Sortable list with search, status filter, tag filter, and archived toggle

Search applies across both views. Tag filtering is available on team boards when tags are configured in Workflow Settings.

Workflow Settings

Click Workflow Settings on the Projects page (gear icon) to configure how your channel runs production. Settings apply to the whole channel, not a single card.

Tab Purpose
Overview Channel summary, counts per stage, Slack and recording flags at a glance
SOPs Standard operating procedures tagged to stages (idea, script, thumbnail, upload, etc.)
Schedule Recurring publish schedule for planning
Slack Webhook and notification toggles (thumbnails ready, upload status, agent runs, mentions, status changes)
Checklist Upload checklist items (required vs optional)
Flags Recording stage on/off for channels that film on camera
Defaults Default length, template, and model inherited by new ideas and promotion modals
Tags Workflow and manual tags for filtering the board
Thumb Criteria Channel rules for thumbnail review
Team Who has access on this channel's team

Seed default SOPs and checklist items from the panel when you are setting up a new channel ops workflow.

Channel Settings (voice, language, linked YouTube channel) is separate from Workflow Settings. Voice and audience still live under the channel Settings menu in the main layout. See Channel Settings.

Tasks

Tasks appears in the top-level navigation (next to Channels, Intel, Tools)—not inside a single channel. It lists every project assigned to you across all channels on your current team, grouped by production stage, with an overdue filter when due dates have passed.

Assign yourself from the Assignee dropdown in the card's header toolbar, then use Tasks as your daily stand-up view.

Creating projects without dragging

  • Create Script — Starts a new script via Chat with a prefilled prompt (Canvas path)
  • + Add card — Add a titled idea or project directly in a column
  • Ideas → Write Script — Canvas-first path from the Ideas library

How this fits the rest of Subscribr

You want to… Start here
Browse and generate ideas Your Ideas Library
Automate a first draft from the board Drag idea → production column, or Agent Mode
Outline and edit hands-on Canvas workflow
Step-by-step guided writing Script Builder
Thumbnails only Thumbnails

Next steps

Configure Workflow Settings before your team scales past a few cards. Then read Agent Mode if you rely on the drag-to-Script promotion flow, or Understanding the Script Workflow for the Canvas-centric path.
