Your Audience Avatar
Your audience avatar is a detailed profile of who you're creating content for. It helps Subscribr write scripts that speak directly to your viewers' needs, desires, and pain points.
What is an Audience Avatar?
An audience avatar is more than just demographics - it's a complete picture of your ideal viewer. When Subscribr understands who you're talking to, it can:
- Use language and references that resonate with them
- Address their specific pain points and challenges
- Create hooks that grab their attention specifically
- Structure content in ways that match how they think
How is it Generated?
Your audience avatar is AI-generated based on how you created your channel:
Linked YouTube Channels
When you link an existing YouTube channel, Subscribr analyzes your content to build your audience avatar. It looks at:
- Your video topics and themes
- The language you use
- Comments and engagement patterns
- Your channel's niche and positioning
Custom Channels (Plan Before You Record)
When you create a custom channel, you provide a description of your planned content and target audience. The AI then generates a complete audience persona based on your description - including demographics, psychographics, behaviors, and the questions your audience might have.
Remix Channels
When you remix an existing channel, Subscribr analyzes the source channel's top videos to understand their audience. If you provide remix instructions (like "target a younger audience" or "focus on beginners"), the AI creates a modified persona that's recognizably similar to the original but with your specific adjustments.
What's Included in Your Avatar
Your audience avatar includes several components:
Demographics
Basic information like age range, gender distribution, location, and profession. This helps set the baseline for language complexity and cultural references.
Psychographics
What motivates your audience? What are their values, beliefs, and aspirations? This shapes the emotional tone of your scripts.
Online Behavior
Where does your audience hang out online? What other creators do they follow? This helps Subscribr understand the content ecosystem your viewers live in.
Offline Behavior
What does your audience do in real life? Their hobbies, routines, and daily challenges inform the examples and stories in your scripts.
Key Questions
What questions keep your audience up at night? What problems are they trying to solve? This is gold for creating content that feels personally relevant.
The Audience Photo
Your audience profile includes an AI-generated photo representing your typical viewer. This visual helps you keep your audience in mind while creating content.
If you want a different representation, click the refresh icon below the photo to generate a new one.
Managing Your Avatar
You can view and manage your audience avatar from your channel's Audience page:
- Go to your channels page
- Click on "Audience" in the navigation
- Use the Actions menu to:
- Refresh Avatar - Regenerate the entire avatar from your YouTube data (overwrites any customizations)
- Edit Avatar - Make manual adjustments to any section
Be Specific
The more specific your audience avatar, the better your scripts will be. "YouTube creators with 1,000-10,000 subscribers who want to grow faster" is much more useful than "people interested in YouTube."
When to Update Your Avatar
Consider updating your audience avatar when:
- Your channel has grown significantly and your audience has evolved
- You're pivoting to new content types or topics
- You've learned something new about who actually watches your videos
- Your scripts don't seem to resonate as well as they used to
Your audience avatar affects every script you create. If something feels "off" about your generated content, the avatar is often the first place to look.
Next Steps
With your audience defined, it's time to set up how your scripts will sound:
