Channel Settings
Configure your channel's defaults to streamline your script creation workflow. Settings you choose here apply to all new scripts in this channel.
Accessing Settings
Select your channel from the channel switcher, then click the "Settings" link in the channel navigation. Use the sidebar to jump between sections.
Channel Details (Custom Channels)
For custom channels (not linked to YouTube), you can edit the Channel Name (displayed throughout Subscribr) and Description (a brief description of your channel's focus).
Script Defaults
These settings apply automatically when you create new scripts:
Default Template
Select a template that matches most of your content:
- Flexible - Adapts to any video type (recommended for most users)
- Educational - Teaching, tutorials, how-tos
- Documentary - Story-driven, investigative content
- Commentary - Opinion pieces, reactions, analysis
- Review - Product or content reviews
- Explainer - Breaking down complex topics
- Compilation - Top 10s, themed collections, pattern revelations
- Fictional Story - Narrative-driven content with character development
- VSL - Video sales letters and promotional content
See Using Templates for the complete list of templates including specialized short-form options.
You can always change the template when creating individual scripts.
Voice
Select which voice profile to use for scripts. Voice profiles capture your unique speaking style, vocabulary, and tone from your existing YouTube content.
If you haven't created a voice yet, you can use the fallback Tone and Readability settings instead.
Writing Model
Choose your preferred AI model for generating scripts:
- Claude 4.6 Sonnet
- GPT 5.2
- DeepSeek V3.2
- Gemini 3.1 Pro
- Grok 4
- Kimi K2.5
- MiniMax M2.5
Experiment with Models
Different models have different strengths. Try generating similar content with different models to find which works best for your style.
Language
Set the default language for all scripts in this channel. You can override this when creating individual scripts.
Standard Footer
Optional text that's automatically appended to all generated video descriptions. Useful for consistent CTAs, social links, or disclaimers.
Ideation
The Ideation section (found in the Settings sidebar) lets you set preferences that guide how Subscribr generates video ideas, writes titles, and designs thumbnails.
Title Guidelines
This freeform text field describes the title style you prefer for your channel. When Subscribr generates video ideas, it reads these guidelines and applies them to every title it writes.
Good title guidelines are specific and actionable. Examples:
- "Always include a specific number when possible. Keep under 60 characters."
- "Use curiosity gaps and strong verbs. Avoid vague words like 'amazing' or 'incredible'."
- "Match the conversational tone of the channel — titles should sound like something I'd actually say."
- "Lead with the outcome, not the process."
The more precise your guidelines, the more consistently Subscribr's generated ideas will match your style.
Import from Channel
Not sure what to write? Use Import from channel to let Subscribr analyze an existing YouTube channel's title patterns and generate instructions for you.
- Click Import from channel
- Enter a YouTube channel handle (e.g.
@mkbhd) or paste the channel URL - Click Search, then Generate title & thumbnail instructions
- Subscribr analyzes the channel's titles and writes guidelines based on the patterns it finds
- Review the result, edit if needed, and click Save
This is a fast way to capture your own style from your existing channel, or to understand what's working for a competitor you admire.
Use your own channel
If your channel is linked to a YouTube account, entering your own handle gives you guidelines based on your proven title style — a great starting point to refine from there.
Min. View Count
Set a minimum view count threshold to filter which source videos Subscribr uses as inspiration when generating ideas. When set, only outlier videos with at least this many views will be considered.
This is useful if you want ideas inspired by videos with strong social proof — not just high outlier scores on smaller channels. For example, setting this to 50,000 ensures ideas come from videos that have proven broad appeal.
Leave blank to use all qualifying outlier videos regardless of view count.
YouTube Link
Linking a YouTube Channel
Connect a YouTube channel to import data for voice training and audience analysis. You can change the linked YouTube channel, re-sync data from YouTube, or unlink the channel entirely.
Re-linking Updates Your Voice
When you link or re-link a YouTube channel, your voice profile will be regenerated based on the new channel's content.
Unlinking
Disconnecting converts your channel to a custom channel. Your scripts and settings remain, but YouTube data will no longer be pulled automatically.
Danger Zone
Critical actions that can't be undone:
Delete Channel
Permanently removes the channel and all associated scripts, research, voice profiles, audience data, and settings.
Cannot Be Undone
Export any scripts you want to keep before deleting a channel. This action is permanent.
